Barcelona defeated Espanyol 3-0 on Saturday, away from home, and secured for another round the lead of the Spanish Championship. But to achieve the triumph in the Catalan classic, the team of coach Luis Enrique needs to thank the opponent behind. In particular, the Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez, who ended the fast five games without swinging the networks.
The center-forward, the main highlight of the match, scored two goals thanks to two gifts from the opponents defenders. After a first half in white and very balanced, Barcelona opened the scoring four minutes after the final stage after a first hesitation.
The right-back Jurado tried to retreat to the middle of the rear of the trivela and sent on the feet of Suárez. The forward advanced, invaded the area and hit hard to the nets. Until then, the Barcelona found it difficult to pierce the opponent's strenght and suffered to hold off the opponent's counterattacks.
Neymar had a good chance to make it 15 minutes. He received it on the left, straightened it in the middle and hit it placed. Diego López flew at the left side to avoid the goal. Jurado tried to make amends at 25, but Ter Stegen caught the shot from outside the box.
With the match equal, Barcelona managed to make the second thanks to Messi. In the 31st minute, he left all behind and rolled left to Rakitic, who beat crossed to the networks. Espanyol felt the second goal and the team of Luis Enrique finally managed to touch the ball.
However, to reach the third goal, needed new help from the opponent. Messi crossed from the left, Caricol tried to pull away and punctured. The ball hit his shin and left for Suarez. The Uruguayan had the tranquility to dribble Diego Lopez and close the score.
The result led Barcelona to the same 81 points as Real Madrid, who had beaten Valencia 2-1 in Madrid earlier. The Catalan team, however, takes advantage of having won the direct confrontation, the first tiebreaker in the Spanish Championship.
Even so, Real Madrid depends only on its strength to win the national title. That's because the team of Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo still has one game less than the arch-rival. The Spanish League is still studying the date to reschedule the game against Celta in Vigo. It should happen between the penultimate and the last round of the competition.
