Siegemund finishes 5th in the standings and goes to the Stuttgart final against Sharapova

Germany's Laura Siegemund defeated Romanian Simona Halep, No. 4 and fifth-placed WTA ranking head, by 2 sets to 0, with a 6/4 and 7/5 split and secured a place in the Stuttgart Tournament decision, in Germany. In the final, she will face Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic, who earlier knocked out Russia's Maria Sharapova.

Laura Siegmund will contest the second consecutive competition decision. In 2016, she lost the final to compatriot Angelique Kerber and finished as a runner-up. This time, it arrives packed in search of the unpublished title. The German made a devastating start to the game against the fifth best tennis player in the WTA ranking and was able to draw 5 to 0 in the first set.

But the service was broken, it got to destabilize, and even so closed the partial in 6/4. The second was more balanced, Simona Halep came to break the service and had a set-point. Laura Siegemund, however, remained calm, returned the break and then got the turn in 7/5.

 - Ukrainian top seed Elina Svitolina kept her favor and advanced to the final of the Istanbul Tournament by beating Slovakian Jana Cepelova 6/2 and 6/3. In the decision, she will face Belgian Elise Mertens, the sixth highest ranked, who beat Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, third seeded head, with a double 6/1.
