Ana Ivanovic announces retirement at age 29

The Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic announced on Wednesday (28) the retirement of professional tennis at 29 years.

"I did not announce anywhere else because I think you deserve to hear first. There's no other way to say: I've decided to retire from professional tennis," she said in a live broadcast on her official Facebook page. "It was a difficult decision, but there's a lot to celebrate."

Ivanovic recalled the beginning of his career and said he had fulfilled the dream he had since he was five. She has won 15 WTA Tour titles and three Grand Slams finals, including the Roland Garros title in 2008, beating Dinara Safina in the final. In the same year, he took the lead in the world rankings, something that, in the announcement of retirement, he said he had never dreamed of achieving.

"Being on top in any professional sport demands the best physical form and it's no secret that I've been suffering from injuries. For me, my fans, boys and girls who may be watching me, I can only play if I meet my high standards Quality and I can not do it anymore, so it's time to move on, "he explained.
